We have the privilege of working with a great team of dedicated volunteers that prepare coffee, breakfast, and snacks every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. But that’s just the beginning. On the “other” days, it’s normal to find we’re looking for ways to help those we meet with transportation, housing, or perhaps meeting someone for lunch. It’s just the way we’re wired!
Beyond the core volunteers that make up the Board of Directors, we’re blessed to have support from local churches, pastors, and other volunteers. Some come frequently, while others fulfill one of our goals by serving one day per month as a church. If you or your church is interested in partnering with us, please let us know! Contact us through our website (Contact Us), or better yet, come by and see what it looks like to serve on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. We get started at about 6:45 am and typically run until 9:30 am, depending on how many people are there and the number taking showers, etc.
Our Bible Study days, Tuesday/Thursday, 7:15 – 8:30 am, is another way to hear about our heart for ministry. As I type this post, we are about to begin the Gospel of John, chapter 6. The format is pretty simple. We read through a section of Scripture, then go back through it one phrase at a time, seeking to learn what was said to the original audience then how it is relevant to those sitting around the circle. We end the study by asking for prayers among those who are there. Between the Scripture and the prayer time, this study has quickly become one of the highlights of my week! The Holy Spirit shows up in mighty ways! We see prayers answered and gain insight as we learn and grow together in a small community of faith.
We hope you can join us and see how God is working through his people in Anderson.
